Whitefish Mountain Resort
Whitefish Mountain Resort is visible from downtown Kalispell and brings with it fantastic skiing. With 10 lifts and over 100 runs your legs will be done before you have skied them all. This gives you the perfect excuse to come back, after a day of exploring and relax. Big Mountain Express from chair 1, lovingly known by skiers as “The Big,” has 31 runs by itself!
Learning to ski at Whitefish Mountain Resort is made easy with their ski school. The resort has over 60 instructors certified by Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) and American Association of Snowboard Instructors (AASI). Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort
Just 28 miles southwest of Kalispell lies Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort. This resort has mostly intermediate runs which makes it a great location for learning to ski. For those who prefer cross country skiing, Blacktail offers 25 kilometers of groomed trails maintained by volunteers from the North Shore Nordic Club.
Blacktail Mountain Ski Resort offers group and private lessons for all ages beginning at 3 years old in their Mini Mights program. The also offer daily 2 hour group lessons for skiing and snowboarding. These lessons do not require a reservation making it easy to go on a whim. What is skiing without a hot bowl of chili? Blacktail Lodge offers a cafeteria and full restaurant where skiers and snowboarders can enjoy chili and cornbread by the fire. They also offer burgers and sandwiches, soups and salads and will serve all their sandwiches on a bed of greens instead of bread.
